Ottawa Catholic School Board 

Julian Hanlon was appointed Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer of the Ottawa Catholic School Board in September 2010.

Julian Hanlon is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and Queen’s University, with a Masters of Education (Administration). He has been with the Ottawa Catholic School Board for 33 years and has served as teacher, vice-principal and principal. He has also served as a supervisory officer in several families of schools and two portfolios including Human Resources, and Staff Development, Evaluation and Research (renamed to Student Success Department). He is currently a member of several Board and community committees. He is the current President of the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO), and serves on the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE), the Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services, and the Learning Partnership. On a personal note, Mr. Hanlon is married to Claire; he has two daughters and a granddaughter. His recreational interests include golf, skiing, travelling and reading.

Denise Andre was appointed Deputy Director of Education and Assistant Secretary Treasurer of the Ottawa Catholic School Board in September 2010. 

Denise Andre is a graduate of Carleton University and the University of Ottawa with a Masters of Education. She has been with the Ottawa Catholic School Board for 33 years and has served as a teacher, department head, vice-principal, principal and school superintendent. She has also served six (6) years on the Board of Directors for St. Mary’s Home and Outreach Centre, and recently joined the Boards of St. Paul University and the Youth Services Bureau. Denise is also an instructor for the Supervisory Officer’s Qualifications Program, offered by the Eastern Ontario Staff Development Network.

Liz Sandals was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2003, and was appointed Minister of Education in February 2013. Prior to her election, Sandals worked as a computer programmer analyst and taught computer science at the University of Guelph.
