Full-day kindergarten offers children the best possible start to a great education. During the regular school day, children are involved in many different kinds of activities designed to help young learners explore, discover and grow. They will have opportunities to initiate learning and play, as well as take part in more structured play-based learning under the guidance of a teacher and early childhood educator. The teachers and early childhood educators are guided by a curriculum document based on the existing kindergarten program and research and other early learning curricula.
The Ontario Ministry of Education offers lots of resources and ideas to help you and your child get ready for full-day kindergarten. You can also find answers to other questions commonly asked by parents and caregivers, and view other resources.

Since September 2010, the Ottawa Catholic School Board has been phasing in the Ministry of Education's full-day learning program for four and five year old kindergarten students. Thirty-two (32) of our elementary schools now offer full-day kindergarten. The program offering will be expanded each year, and will be available in every school by the 2014-2015 school year.
There are 14 elementary schools (NEW!) which will begin full day kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year.
Starting in September 2013

Some of our full-day kindergarten school sites also offer before and after school programs led by registered early childhood educators. These programs are optional and will be available for a reasonable fee. Subsidies will be available for some families, based on financial need.

“Put learning in my way — then stand aside
to guide my footsteps — but do not push me.
My steps are small because my legs are short
and there is much to see that you have seen.
But see no more — too bad!
When I have travelled all the road through
books uphill and down
My head will overflow with so much knowing.
Don’t make me go too fast to see and hear this
lovely world
Let joy keep pace with growing."
