Ottawa Catholic Schools - Early Learning

Extended Day Programs

These programs operate with a recreational/educational focus. The daily program plan is developed by the staff and children and reflects the developmental needs and interests of the children in the group. Activities may include group games/sports, arts and crafts and drama. Themes and schedules are developed by staff and participants at the beginning of the year and changed as necessary. A light nutritious snack is provided both in the morning and the afternoon.

On all regular school days, the morning program operates from 7:00 am until regular school-yard supervision begins. The afternoon program operates from school dismissal time until 6:00 pm. Parents may register their children in either the morning, afternoon or both programs for 2-5 days per week. Programs will run from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on all PD Days throughout the school year, for one week at Christmas, and the designated week of March Break. Please note that spaces are limited and fees for full days will be charged separately.

Since September 2010, the Ottawa Catholic School Board has been phasing in the Ministry of Education's full-day learning program for four and five year old kindergarten students. Extended Day Programs are run in conjunction with the Full Day Kindergarten program. The Full Day Kindergarten program is currently being offered in sixteen (16) of our schools, with a schedule to phase it into all of our schools. Read more about Full Day Kindergarten >>
12 new school sites have been added for September 2013!

Registration and Fees

Register through the Centralized Waiting List, as outlined above. The daily fee for the morning program is $8.50. The daily fee for the afternoon program is $11.50. Families will also have the option to register for full days (one week at Christmas, PD days,  March Break).  This process will take place in September and the daily rate will be $29. Some City of Ottawa subsidies will be available in Extended Day Programs only.

Centralized Waiting List

Parents seeking care at any of our child care programs (including the one outlined on this page) are required to register with Child Care Information in order to be placed on the new Centralized Waiting List. Parents may choose to place their names on other waiting lists (at individual centres) if they wish.
