A variety of child care services are provided in Ottawa Catholic School Board schools. Some schools have programs operated directly by the Board, such as Extended Day programs, Before and After School Clubs, and Ontario Works/LINC/ESL Child Care. In other schools, the Ottawa Catholic Child Care Corporation operates licensed child care programs and two preschool resource centres in partnership with the Board. Additionally, space is leased in a few schools to other licensed child care operators.
The Ottawa Catholic Child Care Corporation's programs are facilitated by the Ottawa Catholic School Board's Early Learning Services Department. The Corporation is a non-profit organization that operates licensed child care programs. It has a seven member Board of Directors made up of parents, community members and Ottawa Catholic School Board representatives. The centres promote social skills, life skills and knowledge of self, through activities, which are developmentally appropriate for the children in care.
Parents seeking care at any of our child care programs are required to register with Child Care Information in order to be placed on the new Centralized Waiting List. Parents may choose to place their names on other waiting lists (at individual centres) if they wish.

Moving from Preschool to Kindergarten
Understanding the value of the early years and a smooth transition from preschool to school, our Board has developed the Building Bridges initiative. The goal of the initiative is to facilitate the transition process for the child by increasing communication between the parents, child care program staff and the school.
