Licensed Early Learning Centres and School Age Programs
The Early Learning Centres and School Age Programs are operated by the Ottawa Catholic Child Care Corporation which has a seven member Board of Directors made up of parents, community members and Ottawa Catholic School Board representatives. The Child Care Corporation is a non profit organization that is facilitated by the Ottawa Catholic School Board's Early Learning Services Department. The Early Learning Centres offer Preschool programs for children ages 2.5 to 3.8 years. Some of the locations also offer Toddler programs for children 18 months to 2.5 years. Children between the ages of 4 and 12 years of age (as of December 31) are eligible for the School Age Program.
The Early Learning Centres and School Age Programs offer a relaxed, recreational and educational program in a child-centred environment where children can safely learn through play.
Hours of Operation
The programs operate from 7:00 am to 5:45 pm daily. Children may attend from 7:00 am until the start of school and then return after school until 5:45 pm. Children may attend full days during March Break, Christmas holidays, school PD days, and during the summer holidays. Children enrolled in preschool may attend between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. All programs are closed for statutory holidays, with the exception of Remembrance Day. A lieu day is taken the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The date for the lieu day is determined prior to November 30th of each school year.
Withdrawal / Discharge Policy
Any child who turns 12 between January 1st and June 30th will be discharged from the school age program on the last day of that school year. Parents may ask permission for the child to remain in the program over the summer. Requests will only be considered if made in writing. Availability of space, program needs and individual needs will be considered in determining if an extension will be granted. Children whose 12th birthday falls between July 1st and December 31st will be discharged as of the end of the summer program prior to the school year in which they will be 12. Two weeks written notice from the parents is required at the time any child is withdrawn from the program. If notice is not received, full program fees will be charged. Parents may choose to temporarily withdraw their child from the program at any time. Regretfully, no guarantee can be given that a space will be available when requested.
