Our priorities and strategic plan for success

The Ottawa Catholic School Board is committed to specific Board priorities. Establishing and following these priorities has resulted in improvements in student achievement and well-being, effective stewardship of the Board’s resources, and the delivery of effective and appropriate educational programs. Our Board Priorities plan continues to focus on three core elements, which have remained consistent over several years.

Success for Students

  • Engage with learners as discerning believers, formed in the Catholic faith
  • Nurture reflective, creative literate learners through authentic learning experiences
  • Honour, respect and support the diversity of all learners

Success for Staff

  • Embed experiences that will enrich and deepen adult faith
  • Cultivate Catholic collaborative learning communities through inquiry and shared leadership
  • Leverage technology to enhance collaboration, teaching and learning

Stewardship of Resources

  • Differentiate resources to support improvement for all learners
  • Foster student and parental engagement, together with church and community partners
  • Enhance environmental initiatives that respect God's creation

At the core of these priorities is the call to live the Gospel Values which is further enhanced by our annual Board spiritual theme. While we focus on these priorities, we also embrace innovative learning techniques to support students as they acquire the skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. The priorities also help us build caring communities supporting the dignity of all persons.

Multi-Year Strategic Plan

Our Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) provides vision for the Board by establishing strategic direction, with an emphasis on student achievement.  Operational plans, such as the Board Innovation Plan for Student Achievement and Wellness (BIPSAW) flow out of the MYSP. This plan is updated and reviewed by the Board of Trustees each year. These documents outline our priorities and goals for performance measures, evidence gathering methods and targets for improvement.
